The simplest outbound telephone service is most likely what you're already familiar with -- picking up the phone, entering a telephone number, and having your call be connected. Inerail can provide this same service at a lower rate, either independantly or in addition to our
incoming services.
With Inerail's outbound telephone service, your call is handled over the internet, rather than over the traditional telephone lines that run from building to building. What this actually does is makes your calls to everywhere cheaper, because they're placed on the expensive fabric of the telephone network nearer to the destination, ultimatley spending less time there. Using this method, almost every call you place will see a price drop --- especially long-distance & international calls!
Furthermore, because of this, your phone will work from anywhere you are, as long as you have an internet connection available. You can take your phone with you and plug it in somewhere else, and it will work as if you were home -- even the caller ID that people see when you call them will remain the same. If you want to be able to place and receive calls whenever you are, you can also use free software called a 'softphone'. This is an application that you can install on your computer that connects to Inerail's voice network, and allows you to place and receive calls as if you were sat at your phone. This will work anywhere your computer has a fast internet connection, as long as you have a microphone. There's no additional charge for this either!
Additionally, calls to other Inerail voice subscribers can be placed at
no additional charge. Because your call stays on Inerail's voice network for as long as it can until it reaches it's final destination, and the final destination in this case is also on Inerail's voice network, it doesn't cost anything to deliver these calls. You can talk to other Inerail voice customers as long as you want, no matter what city, state, or country they're in, and it won't cost you.
Pricing
Our basic outbound service starts at $2.00 per month, and varies depending on what services you choose to subscribe to. If you subscribe to any of our normally-priced incoming services, this is included at no additional charge (restrictions may apply, contact us for details). Usage for this service starts at $0.02/min and vary depending on what region you're calling to, and the type of call being placed (voice/fax/data/alarm system/etc). For certain types of calls (fax/data/etc), a calling prefix may need to be entered before the call can be successfully placed. Emergency Calling Information
At this time, Inerail Voice-over-IP service DOES NOT include 911/E911/999/112/etc emergency calling services. Calls made to emeregency numbers are unable to be routed via Inerail's VoIP network and must be placed through a fixed-line or mobile telephone. Please keep this in mind while you are utilizing this service. While Inerail does intend to support this in the future emergency calling is currently unavailable with this service.
